Welcome to the Atlanta Chapter's Website. Harley-Davidson of Atlanta established the Atlanta Chapter on September 16, 1985. We are the oldest H.O.G. Chapter in Georgia. All of the officers hope you will take a look around and enjoy your stop here. Be sure to check out the Calendar. We try to keep a good variety of rides and events to fit into everyone's schedules. If you are a local or just passing through town and have any questions feel free to contact any of the Officers. If you are interested in joining the chapter, we have membership applications available here on the site. We are here to "Ride and Have Fun" and hope you will come out and join us soon. Director's Article
Well, the time has come. It has been a terrific ride. I joined this illustrious organization and chapter in 2005 having no clue what it was all about. When you first get started, you think it is just about a great American brand of motorcycles or riding and having fun. It is both of those in a lot of ways, but more than anything it is about people and friendships. I believe in my heart this is what our chapter's all about.
I was honored in late 2007 when Chris Robey asked me to be his Assistant Director, his enthusiasm and plans for the chapter were exciting. Chris, Erik and I communicated quite a bit that first year together. Those chats led to many new and fun things. In 2010, I became Director with Erik as Assistant. I've truly enjoyed being the director and I know the chapter is in extremely capable hands. I have made some extremely close, lifelong friends. I have tried to keep our chapter pointed in a good direction. I can not say I've always made the absolute best decision, but I've always stepped up to make the decision and always been open to suggestions.
I look forward to our Christmas Party to chat with everyone personally, and do not worry I still plan on being very active. Happy Holidays, and see you on the road.
Thanks for all you do,
Bobby Conway
Director, Atlanta Chapter
Looking Forward to 2012
Wow, that one went by quickly! In looking back, 2011 was a terrific year. We had some fantastic rides that carried us down the highways, back roads, twisty mountain roads and even down the field of the football grid in the Gwinnett Arena for a Biker’s Battling Breast Cancer event. Three events that stand out in my mind were the Saddle and Paddle ride to the North Carolina mountains in August, the fantastic Georgia State H.O.G. Rally in Hiawassee in September and the ABC’s of Touring rides. These were some beautiful and well-planned rides and equally enjoyable was the opportunity to hang out with our chapter members. Whether it is riding down the road in staggered formation, cooking hamburgers in the hot summer sun at the dealership or taking advantage of a Sundae Sunday Supper Ride. There were many opportunities to get together with others who share a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the freedom we associate with riding them. It is our membership that makes the Atlanta Chapter a growing and enjoyable family.
I would like to thank all of our chapter officers for their dedication and commitment in 2011. Bobby Conway has done a superb job in serving as our director for the last two years. If serving as director was not enough, Bobby has been an integral member of the Georgia State Rally committee in 2009, 2010, 2011. He is once again involved in the planning of the 2012 rally in Hiawassee, GA. Bobby and Michelle have invested a great deal of time in our chapter, and it has not gone unnoticed. Bobby’s plans for 2012 include leading more rides for our chapter as he has been one of the most active road captains. Please take time to thank each of the 2011 chapter officers for a job well done.
Your 2012 Officers are excited about serving the Atlanta Chapter, H.O.G. in 2012.

Guest Policy for Atlanta Chapter H.O.G. Members
We have received several inquiries recently regarding guests at Atlanta H.O.G. functions. Are guests welcome? Absolutely. Our chapter is focused on growing, building friendships and promoting Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Listed below is our chapter policy regarding guests / nonmember:
The Atlanta H.O.G. Chapter encourages members to invite guests to Chapter rides and events. All guests are required to sign a Chapter Event Release Form for each event as mandated by Harley-Davidson Motor Co. A former member or spouse (no member) of a current member is considered a guest and must also sign a Chapter Event Release Form for each event. Any guest may participate in up to three functions. Attendance in activities beyond the three functions will require active membership in the Atlanta Chapter. (A national membership in the Harley Owners Group is a prerequisite for membership in the local H.O.G. Chapters). Non riding guests may join as an associate member.

Assistant Director, Atlanta Chapter
Attendance Jackpot
Congratulations to Wilbur Frey whose name was drawn for the November Attendance Jackpot. Unfortunately, Wilbur was not at the meeting to claim the $140. We will add $10 to the Jackpot for the next chapter meeting, $150. Remember you must be at the meeting and a member in "Good Standing," a current member of national H.O.G. and Atlanta Chapter. If the member whose name is drawn is not at the meeting, we will add $10 and try again next meeting. Please have your National H.O.G. card with you at the meeting. Hope to see everyone there.
Please ride safe and responsible,

Road Captains Needed
Road Captains Meeting in January
We will have our annual planning meeting at the end of January. Please check your schedule to support and help develop the 2012 Ride Season. New and old road captains are welcome. We encourage any member or anyone that would like to be a road captain to attend. For those that would like to join our road captains, please contact me, and we will set up a training session. Even if, you would just like to learn more on how our chapter performs group rides, we encourage you to come and understand our safety techniques.
New Road Captains Wanted! We are always looking for more Captains, so if you have an interest, come and check it out and then decide.
Current Road Captains should contact me, to let me know you will stay in 2012. The chapter has been truly grateful for all the terrific rides you provided in 2011.
Thank you and look forward to seeing you all in January.
Thank You
I wanted to thank all my fellow hoggies for all their love and support during my time of need. I am doing well in my recovery and expect a favorable report of healing as time passes. I wanted to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. So many have stepped up to help me and my family during this time. It has been truly humbling and makes me proud to be apart of such an incredible group. No gesture, large or small, went unnoticed. Thank you again, and know that I am extremely happy to be part of such an extraordinary group.
Ride Safe and see you on the road,
Diana Bodden
Head Road Captain, Atlanta Chapter
Jim Byrd
Safety Officer, Atlanta Chapter
This has been a fantastic year, and I’ve enjoyed all the time spent with you all.
Our last movie night in October was fun. We ended it with Scream 4. I especially loved watching grown men in the chapter, who had never seen any of the movie series jump out of their seat when something scary happened…now that was entertainment!
Don't forget December 10 is our chapter Christmas Social. The social will be held at the FOP Loge in Austell from 7-11 pm. Come and enjoy the music by DJ Zack and holiday buffet served by Jim n Nicks. The buffet will include ice tea, soda & water, if you prefer something stronger, please bring your own, this is a BYOB social.
We will have a ‘Dessert Contest’ with 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners, so be sure to home make your delicious delectable’s to enter into the contest for our judges to sample. You may bring as many desserts as you like, however, only one homemade entry per person (not per family) into the contest, so be sure to pick your favorite one to enter into the contest.
You will be receiving an Evite for the Christmas Social. Please keep a look out and respond. You will have a comment section where you can tell us know if you are bringing a dessert to share at the party (yes – dessert) is all you need to say in the comment (contest entry is optional). We are asking for this information, so we can have a count and know if we need to provide more.
If you are unable to access the Evite when you receive it, you may contact Rene Durham at the dealership and confirm your invitation & dessert by calling 770-944-1340 (only if you are unable to access the Evite). *Note – the social is free to all members any guests (nonmember) are $20 per guest.
To be sure everyone has the information needed, this is where the Social will be held and directions.

Signal Mountain Ride Recap
Friends:
With "Raven" washed, waxed and ready for another ride, I reflect on the last two days of riding with some Superior people, friends and riders. There was Tuck who rode from Brunswick, GA to spend time with his brother-in-law and enjoy a great ride to the mountains. Nicki spontaneously blasted up I-75N to meet us in Resaca, GA. She completed HDA's Riders Edge in September and handled the Sportster 1200C like a veteran. (Great job, RE Instructors. Eddie, I think she's ready for a new bike.) To Charles, who sincerely said "another GREAT ride Steve, well done.” Thanks you Charles!
We were mesmerized by God's gifts of good weather; colorful tree capped roads, great valley vistas and "mountain goat" roads. We traversed Pigeon, Lookout Mtn. and Suck Creek with great precision, so onto Signal Mountain. Wow, blasting up the front side, then along the brow, should I... yes, let's do the "W"...SUCCESS! So let's go back up the eastern face via Falling Waters and Corral, then down its northern tip into Dunlap...well, heck let's add another Fredonia Rd. up over Coalmont...these folks can Ride, and it is just day one! We settled into our hotel at dusk and selected a restaurant for THE BIG GAME. Yet, the Ride conversations were all around the table...no one knew the score when we left for the hotel. Victory!
Day two greeted us with another sunny, brisk 45 degree day with promises of 65 degrees. Off to Monteagle Mtn. for a healthy--well in size at least--breakfast and the Peace Memorial. Then back down Monteagle Mtn. to AL's Lookout Mtn., bridges over the river, twisties up the mountain, great color and skilled Riders. So let's do County Rd. 33...easily sailing, new pavement, GREAT--oops, they didn't finish and left us with Loose Gravel, then Loose Stone...oh well, what remained was something rivaling the Dragon or the Wayah Rd. Smiles in my rear view mirror. Life is good.
While Harley's were the dominant brand...it's not what you ride, but it’s that you ride! The Rider's Bond, which matures during over nighters, is irreplaceable. Plan your Ride, Ride your Plan. Plan to Ride an over nighter with your Chapter members and you will make it annually. Be well my Friends, until Nov. 3, 2012.
Steve Magel, Road Captain
