Welcome to the Atlanta Chapter's Website. Harley-Davidson of Atlanta established the Atlanta Chapter on September 16, 1985. We are the oldest H.O.G. Chapter in Georgia. All of the officers hope you will take a look around and enjoy your stop here. Be sure to check out the Calendar. We try to keep a good variety of rides and events to fit into everyone's schedules. If you are a local or just passing through town and have any questions feel free to contact any of the Officers. If you are interested in joining the chapter, we have membership applications available here on the site. We are here to "Ride and Have Fun" and hope you will come out and join us soon. Lead a Ride for a Chance to Win $25 in Gas
There is a common misconception in the H.O.G. community that you absolutely have to be a Road Captain to lead a ride. Starting a few years ago when some of us were at H.O.T., we discovered that there are no requirements for someone leading a ride. However, there are some legal requirements when it comes to waivers for a nonmember. I say all that to say this. If you have a good ride that you enjoy then the other members might enjoy it as well. If that’s the case and you’re a little uncomfortable then get with a Road Captain and see if they can assist you. We decided at a recent business meeting to give Ride Leaders/Road Captains some incentive for leading rides. If you’ve led a ride, then at the next chapter meeting your name will be entered into a drawing for a $25 QT gas card. Last month Denny Heare won the card. Denny had led a ride to “The Ride to Live.” H.O.G. is all about riding and having fun so I want us to do as much riding as possible. So get out and lead a ride, with as many folks that are riding in our chapter now days the fun is bound to happen.
I look forward to riding and having fun with everyone soon,
Bobby Conway

Attendance Jackpot
Congratulations to Patrick Stevens whose name was drawn for the June Attendance Jackpot. Unfortunately Patrick was not at the meeting claim the $90. We will add $10 to the Jackpot for the next chapter meeting, $100. Remember you must be at the meeting and a member in "Good Standing," a current member of national H.O.G. and Atlanta Chapter. If the member whose name is drawn is not at the meeting, we will add $10 and try again next meeting. Please have your national H.O.G. card with you at the meeting. Hope to see everyone there.
Please ride safe and responsible,

Belt Drive
The drive belt is often ignored until there is a problem. Check the motorcycle belt for signs of wear and damage. Clean the belt with mild soap and water when washing your bike. Towel dry and inspect.

Before I dive into my article, I would like to express my appreciation to all of you. Our chapter members are the best, you have been helpful and supportive, and I would like to "thank you all.”
Now diving into this article, I'm happy to announce that Movie Night has been very successful and fun. I've enjoyed visiting with members, the conversations over dinner and watching the movie. I look forward to seeing you on Friday, July 22, – 6:00 p.m., bring your dinner and 7:00 p.m. watch the movie.
Our Chapter Picnic meeting in Americus was very productive and a beautiful trip there and back. Our last meeting will be held on Sunday, July 3 at the Great South Hog Pen. In this meeting we will group together and stuff 200 bags for our picnic guests, if you would like to join us for this last meeting let me know.
The Chapter Picnic is Saturday, July 9. Have you purchased your tickets? Tickets are available at the dealership or online at www.chapterpicnic.com. On the website, you can get all your information about the picnic and directions as well.
July is a busy month for us. We have many fun events scheduled and will need volunteers to help for the following:
● Saturday, July 9, – Chapter Picnic (8-9 a.m. volunteers arrival at Great South)
● Sunday, July 10, – Bag stuffing for Bikers Battling Breast Cancer (BBBC) upcoming events (2:00 p.m. volunteer arrival at HDA Pavilion)
● Saturday, July 16, – Curves & Chrome (BBBC) (8:00 a.m. set up/10:00 a.m. for volunteer arrival at HDA for Registration Table)
● Saturday, July 16, – We need members to bring baked goods, ice cream freezers with their favorite flavors, volunteers to sell drinks, check Id's for arm bands and registration for the bike show.
Please contact me at cesdls@bellsouth.net if you are available to help.
Before I end this article I would like to leave a simple tip for the guy's . . .

To My HOG Family
Let’s Have a Little Fun
A. What American magician, escapologists, stunt performer, actor and film producer, died of a reputed appendix?
B. What did he tell his wife he would do when he died if possible?
His wife lit a candle and put it in the window for 10 years waiting for his return.
Only one has ever come back from the dead. If you would like to know, read Mark 16.
Answer: A. Harry Houdini B. He told his wife if anyway he would be back.

Riding season is here and in full swing! Our Atlanta Chapter will be participating in the National H.O.G. ABC's of Touring, Melissa and I will lead two rides that will qualify you for the ABC's of Touring Pin (along with your completing the paperwork and getting it sent in). We'll be setting the times/dates of the rides soon. There are other goodies you can get by exceeding the minimum of 26 pictures of:
You are holding a recent issue of H.O.G. Magazine and your bike at a state, city, county, state park, etc. sign (even H-D dealerships and State H.O.G. Rallies counts) starting with various letters of the alphabet needed. So while you are out and about be sure to keep your H.O.G. Magazine and camera handy . . . start collecting those valuable pictures now!
You can find out all of the rules on the National H.O.G. website.

Saddle & Paddle -- August 13-14, 2011
Well, the time has come to plan this overnighter. I had to plan it for just one night Saturday, August 13. We have a block of rooms at Fontana Village again. I was able to secure a rate of $89 plus tax of course. I am working on the paddling rates at Adventurous Fast Rivers. Please go ahead and call Fontana at 1-800-849-2258 tell them you are with "Atlanta HOG" for the rate. Then please email me at atlhogdirector@gmail.com. I look forward to this weekend as always. More information to follow.

Florida State Rally Ride -- October 19-23, 2011
As we did last year with Tennessee's state rally, I have picked Florida's State Rally to support this year. They have one of the hotels listed on their website with a $69 a night rate. I actually stopped by there a couple weeks ago to check it out and it's very nice. The rally dates are Wednesday, October 19, through Saturday, October 22. The hotel is: Summer Place Inn 1-888-232-2499. Again, if you would just let me know when you make your reservations. This hotel is approximately 3 miles from the main host, but still very nice. I plan on an early start down on Wednesday and returning on Sunday.

Keeping it in the SEC Ride Recap
Billed as an Athens ride then when I took it over I at least wanted to keep it in the SEC and with me being an Auburn fan it was a no brainier to go to Auburn. We had a good group of bikes that went back roads down to eat at “The Auburn Diner”; we later discovered it is affiliated with “The Marietta Diner” so the deserts were awesome. From there we just drifted over to the local dealer where they were having a reverse auction for a Road King. We pooled our money to try to win. But much to our disappointment we didn’t win it. However, I got my picture made with “Aubie” (Auburn Mascot). I was told I got a little excited about it. He made an appearance at the dealership. It was a fun time. We came back the short way on the interstate since it was hot.
