Welcome to the Atlanta Chapter's Website. Harley-Davidson of Atlanta established the Atlanta Chapter on September 19, 1985. We are the oldest H.O.G. Chapter in Georgia. All of the officers hope you will take a look around and enjoy your stop here. Be sure to check out the Calendar. We try to keep a good variety of rides and events to fit into everyone's schedules. If you are a local or just passing through town and have any questions feel free to contact any of the Officers. If you are interested in joining the chapter, we have membership applications available here on the site. We are here to "Ride and Have Fun" and hope you will come out and join us soon. RIDER'S REWARDS PROGRAM ENDING
After much consideration and discussion with both our customers and employees, we have decided to eliminate the Rider’s Rewards Program on December 31, 2009. You can still use your card and earn points from now until December 31, 2009, after that time no points will be issued. All points must be converted to a gift card by December 31, 2009. We are notifying you this far in advance so that you will have time to cash in or take your card to the next level before expiration.
Everyone here at Harley-Davidson of Atlanta is looking forward to new and exciting things for our customers.
Sincerely,
Jeff Eubanks
General Manager
>Family, I talk about this from time to time, but I think it always important to remember that the Atlanta Chapter is more than a group of people riding together, we are a family. The Harley's bring us together, but it's the family atmosphere that keeps us together. As many of you know my mother's breast cancer has come back after she was cancer free for 10 years. Through the past few months the members have proven that we really are a family. I want to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers and offers to help in any way they could. People are at their best when things are at their worst. Lori and I are fortunate that Mom has a tight-knit family, close friends and a very supporting church family. With me being an only child, Lori and I have found our HOG brothers and sisters there to give us any support we need. I have tried to keep all of my articles geared toward the events going on in the chapter and riding, but I felt it is important to remind everyone that we are more than just a riding group; we are here for each other to help when needed.
The State Rally is finally here and Lori and I have had to do some extra planning this year but we are looking forward to being there. I hope to see all of you there. With three of our officers on the Rally committee I know that this will be best State Rally in recent memory. So if you're on the fence, jump off and join the fun in Helen with the rest of your HOG family.

2009 Georgia State HOG Rally
Mark your calendars for the 2009 Georgia State HOG Rally which will be in Helen, GA, August 27, 28 & 29. This year we have three Atlanta Chapter members on the rally committee, Bobby Conway (Security Coordinator), Erik Grandowski (Media/PR) and me, Rene' Durham (Treasurer). We are always looking for new ideas and events. If you have any suggestions, please contact us, we are here for you. Let's make this rally better than the last.
Please ride safe and responsible,
Rene' Durham
Secretary/Treasurer, Atlanta Chapter
Help Wanted
CALLING all members willing to lead a ride. We will assist you with the route and the paperwork. You don't have to be a Road Captain to lead the group.
We will make sure; there is one on your ride. Let me know. We would love to have some new ideas! As you see, our Calendar is getting a bit slim.
PLEASE WATCH THE WEEKLY UPDATES FOR ADDITIONAL RIDES IN AUGUST TO SPECIAL LOCATIONS.
The greatest thing about being a Member of HOG is to meet new friends to ride with. Even if you don't want to lead a group, call another member and invite them out for a ride! That's what the HOG Chapter is all about!
Group Riding Safety Tip
When riding in traffic and the group is passing other vehicles. Always check your path for safe clearance on all sides. We should make sure; there is plenty of room before moving back into the group in front of the vehicle just passed. When a large group is going around another vehicle, we should allow that car to maintain their speed and judge the decision to go around that car as if we were the only bike on the road. Sometimes we may have to allow a car into the group for periods of time, to either exit the road or make a turn. Just remain calm and catch up to the group as traffic allows.
Ride Safe and have fun,
Diana Bodden
Head Road Captain, Atlanta Chapter
Things to Do Before You Dismount
The six stops to perform before you dismount:
1. Use your engine cutoff switch to stop your engine.
2. Turn your ignition switch off.
3. Turn your fuel valve (if you have one) to the OFF position.
4. Put your side stand down and confirm that it is locked in place.
5. Turn your handlebars full-lock left.
6. Squeeze the front brake lever.
If you perform these six steps, you are serious about motorcycle safety.

The Atlanta Chapter HOG Blockbuster Summer Movie Rolls On!
On August 8, we will feature another blockbuster movie in the Pavilion at HDA. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the movie and popcorn compliments of the chapter. Or for only $4.00 you can enjoy hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and desserts! Sometime in July YOU will have the opportunity to cast your ballot via an on-line vote to determine which blockbuster movie we will watch.
Adding to the evening's line up, we will have the first ever Wii Bowling tournament! The top male and female will walk away with nice prizes! So whether you play Wii or not, come out around 7:00 p.m. to give it a try or watch the fun and chat with your chapter buddies. The movie will begin at dusk for the latecomers.
Hope to see you at the movie!

The Ladies of Harley are rolling out a Simple Bike Maintenance class, or as we like to call it “Wrench 101”. Jeff Eubanks, GM at Harley-Davidson of Atlanta, is providing us with our own technician who will show us how to perform pre ride checks such as checking the oil, tire pressure etc. Please bring your owner’s manual and any questions you might have.
If you are not a rider yet, come on out anyway and enjoy the class and see how much fun there is to be had. If you have any questions that you would like answered during this class please contact Karen Mathiasen, Valerie Daniel, or Melissa Fuller at Karen.Mathiasen@gexpro.com, Valdan528@att.net, or Melissa.Fuller@rbc.com
There will also be an impromptu ride led by Karen Mathiasen after this class – plan to spend the day with us!

The 2009 Riding season is well under way and I'd like to thank the members for submitting pictures of lots of great events! I would also like to remind everyone that there is a "Photographer" patch available to members submitting photos from at least three events. We have had several members qualify for the patch this year and would like to give out several more; so get out those cameras and send me the photos! Please send them to atlhogphoto@gmail.com

Atlanta Chapter Web Page
Due to a review of our web page by national H.O.G., I have had to do some changing. I will no longer list chapter members’ birthdays on the web page. They will still be in the HOGWASH and on the web page in the HOGWASH Print as Mailed. I had to move the HOGWASH Archives and the HOGWASH Print as Mailed to a password-protected page. You will need a UserId and password to access these pages. I will print the UserId and password in the HOGWASH each month so you will have access to these pages. This is security protection for our members who names and email addresses appear in past and/or current publications. This does not apply to chapter officer/road captains per national H.O.G. This information is for Atlanta Chapter members ONLY and is not to be disseminated to NON-Chapter Members. These changes only apply to the web site. The HOGWASH publication will remain the same.
Keep Email Address Updated!
If you have updated your e-mail address, PLEASE send me your new address. I get several undeliverable e-mail messages each time I send a message updating members on up coming or changed events. Please, keep you e-mail address up to date and stay informed! E-mail me at hog@bellsouth.net. Thanks!!

2009 Multi-Chapter Picnic Recap
If you missed the picnic this past Saturday all, I can say is You Missed a Great Time of Riding and Having Fun! In addition you missed lots of fellowship with bikers from other chapters and a chance to hang out with all your riding buddies from the Atlanta chapter. The food was Most Excellent, we couldn’t have asked for better weather (warm but with a nice breeze throughout the day). Grizz was one of the vendors who provided sewing services and he looked busy throughout the day. The parking lot was filled with bikes – what a beautiful sight. Our own Valerie Daniel was a winner in the Bike Show and took home a beautiful crystal trophy. The bike games had lots of participation as well as spectators that rooted them onto victory.
I saw lots of cameras in action – don’t forget to send them to Chuck Fuller or burn them on a disc and get them to him. Pictures from three different events will earn you a coveted Photographer’s patch.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the chapter, especially to Matt who came in his wheelchair. Many Many Thanks to everyone who Volunteered and made the picnic a great success. Thanks to Bobby and Michelle Conway, Erik Grandowski, Tandy and Beth Barrett, Rene Durham, Karen Mathiasen (who lead the ride from our dealership), Mark and Nancy Redmon, Holly Martin, Valerie Daniel, Chuck Fuller, Diana Bodden, Cathy (of Cathy and Wendell), Jack Parton, Jake Redmon and Jake’s girlfriend Tiffany. I know there were lots of last minute volunteers so if I didn’t get your name here, I still appreciate ya! Special thanks to Jeff Eubanks from the dealership for coming out to support our chapter - we’re glad we have your participation!
See ya soon – Past Picnic Goddess - Melissa Fuller
