DIRECTOR'S CORNER
Well, 1990 was a lot of fun for me and I hope everyone in the Atlanta Chapter also enjoyed the
Chapter Activities as much as I did. The Chapter had 96 total activities, including 24 day rides, 9 overnight trips, 6 HOG and LOH parties and activities, 12 meetings, 12 officers meeting and 12
charity events. A special thanks to the 1990 Chapter Officers and Harley-Davidson of Atlanta for
the time and effort they all contributed to make it happen. It's difficult to consistently to
consistently come up with good ideas for our activities and find someone to lead them. If the last
three months are any indication, we have an enthusiastic group of officers for 1991 with some
new ideas and it looks like we have another good year for the Chapter come up.
Dick Gehring, Director
Notes of Interest:
In January 1991, the Atlanta Chapter has a ride scheduled for every Saturday and Sunday and a
ride on Tuesday, January 1.
All Chapter rides and activities are held as scheduled, rain or shine. If the weather is too bad, we may have to go by car, the event is never cancelled.
In 1991 a letter was addressed to Harley-Davidson of Atlanta from national H.O.G. which stated
that there are 130,000 members. Today there are more than 3,780,000 members.
The1991 Southern Region Rally, Longview, TX April 27-28. Jim and Rene' Durham led the ride
leaving Thursday morning at 7:30 AM from the Shoney's on Thornton Road for the 600 mile ride
to Longview. Rene's back is still hurting her!
The 1991 Annual H.O.G. Rally was held in Louisville, KY June 6-8.
The Atlanta Chapter won the 1991 Chapter Challenge at the Dayton Beach, FL and Longview,
TX. H.O.G. Rallies.
In 1991 there were a total of 104 Saturdays and Sundays. The Atlanta Chapter had 86 of these
days with activities planned.
Brain Tumor Foundation for Children
Well, what can I say? For the third year in a row we are the number one fund raising club for the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children.. Our total for this year was a little more than $18,000, not bad. The grad total was more than $233,000. There is not enough room to thank all the folks that need to be thanked for this years success. I must thank Eddie Houghton for giving two Willie G. Jackets for the charity and for all the money, he and Wayne Allen spent on cakes, pies and
cookies.
A special thank you to Monty and Dale Pearson, who once again were out top fund-raisers with a
total of $1,216. Great job you two!
To all the ladies who supplied us with all those terrific cakes, pies and cookies, a special word of thanks from out growing love handles.
To each and everyone of you who made something, collected money at your favorite watering
hole, begged your bosses or friends for money, my heart felt thanks. It only goes to show that we
guys in black shirts and leather have very big hearts when it comes to kids.
Lloyd Southwick, "Ride for Kids" Director
Letter to the Editor
Sometimes it gets discouraging, don't it? The Government, which we pay all out taxes too, passes a "Outlaw Motorcycle Gang" bill which automatically labels you and me as criminals. In
California, after a ten-year vendetta against motorcyclists, a politician gets his Helmet law passed using out-and-out lies. Insurance keeps going up, and four-wheelers keep using us for target practice. We might as well leave the bike in the garage. Why keep trying?
I'll tell you why - take a walk through Egleston Hospital and see the hundreds of youngster (boys, girls, babies) in treatment for brain tumors. It'll make you cry, but those tears should be tears of pride because our H.O.G. Chapter (Atlanta) has consistently been the largest contributor to the "Ride for Kids." And every penny of that money goes to either treat the disease, or to research toward finding a cure for it. There's a beautiful laboratory on the top floor of the "Ronald McDonald" Center where two highly respected research doctors work full-time seeking the secret of brain tumor in children, the second largest killer of kids under 15. Soon, two more doctors will join the staff.
Okay, next time you find yourself up to your buck-horns in political B.S. from a bunch of ya-
hoos that want to run us off our Harleys, remember this: That Laboratory was built and those
doctors salaries are paid entirely with money raised by motorcyclists.
And, as an Atlanta H.O.G. member you gave more than most. Doesn't that make you proud? It
should. It makes me proud as hell to be a member of this group. And, who knows? One of those
kids whose life your help save may grow up to be a high-ranking politician, one who thins that
motorcyclist are pretty nice people. Wouldn't that be a pleasant change?
God love you, and Ride Safe.

WEB MASTER'S ARTICLE
Atlanta Chapter Web Page
Due to a review of our web page by national H.O.G., I have had to do some changing. I will no longer list chapter members’ birthdays on the web page. They will still be in the HOGWASH and on the web page in the HOGWASH Print as Mailed. I had to move the HOGWASH Archives and the HOGWASH Print as Mailed to a password-protected page. You will need a UserId and password to access these pages. I will print the UserId and password in the HOGWASH each month so you will have access to these pages. This is security protection for our members who names and email addresses appear in past and/or current publications. This does not apply to chapter officer/road captains per national H.O.G. This information is for Atlanta Chapter members ONLY and is not to be disseminated to NON-Chapter Members. These changes only apply to the web site. The HOGWASH publication will remain the same.
Keep Email Address Updated!
If you have updated your e-mail address, PLEASE send me your new address. I get several undeliverable e-mail messages each time I send a message updating members on up coming or changed events. Please, keep you e-mail address up to date and stay informed! E-mail me at hog@bellsouth.net. Thanks!!

ROAD TRIP
Bone Garden Cantina - January 10
Come and take a ride to Bone Garden Mexican Cantina for lunch. Located on the outskirts of
downtown Atlanta in the Chattahoochee outlet area, Bone Garden is a sister of the Vortex
restaurant chain. The interior is filled with fun skeleton statues and paintings depicting the “Day of the Dead” a traditional Mexican holiday. The food is good and will not bust your pocketbook! If the weather is cold, we will take a direct route via bike or car, however if Mother Nature provides a nice day, we will stretch the ride out a bit. After lunch you can visit the various clothing, antique, home décor and other stores in the area for deals and bargains. This will be a 1 to 2 pig ride.
