NEW RIDER'S REWARDS PROGRAM General Manager Harley-Davidson of Atlanta
I want to take a moment to let you all know that Harley-Davidson of Atlanta has launched a Rider's Rewards Program. This program is designed to reward those customers who are most deserving. Consequently, customers who do more business with Harley-Davidson of Atlanta will reap more benefits as a result of the program.
The Rider's Rewards Program will be available to our entire customer base, including our Chapter members. The Rider Rewards Program will be included FREE OF CHARGE as a part of active chapter membership. For non-chapter members there will be a cost to be a member of the Rider Rewards Program. Non-chapter members will have to acquire their Loyalty card for $9.95 annually or $29.95 for a lifetime membership.
The program is a way for Harley-Davidson of Atlanta customers to earn credit toward future purchases. Each time you make a purchase in MotorClothes, Parts and Accessories and the Service department you will earn a percentage back of every dollar spent. Moreover, points will be earned on qualifying merchandise only. Chapter members will also receive points for their participation in Chapter or dealership sanctioned events and functions (e.g., chapter meetings, chapter rides, socials, volunteer time, etc.).
The warm weather is finally here and it's about time. I will ride in just about any temperature, but it is much better when the weather gives you 70+ degrees. By the time you get this month’s HOGWASH the officers will be on our way to Birmingham for Primary Officers Training. National H.O.G. puts this on each year in several locations across the country. P.O.T. is basically classes and seminars to assist the H.O.G. officers to learn new ways to manage and make the chapter a more exciting place to be. Between the national H.O.G. staff and the hundreds of other chapter officers that attend, there is much to learn. When we return, we will be putting a lot of the information we learn in Birmingham to use here in our chapter. Starting with the May meeting, we will share many aspects of our experience and hopefully bring even more excitement back to the chapter. I hope everyone was able to get out for most of the April rides and events, let me know how you liked having the chapter meeting on Saturday, and if you would like to see more rides though the week. I'm looking forward to a great summer, and I will see you all out with the chapter soon.

Road Captains Meeting Recap
We had our second planning meeting of the year. I want to thank all those that took the time to attend. We were able to come up with some more great ideas for rides and quite a few new members willing to help out. We have scheduled a road captains training day, but are willing to be open any members wanting to be a road captain. We can have another Training session midyear. The next Road Captains planning meeting will be tentatively August 9th.
We have many Day Rides, some Charity Rides, and some great over nighters coming up, some new locations and some oldies but goodies. Come join us on for the adventure and get to know some new folks or spend time with old friends. I look forward to seeing you on the rides. Thanks for all your help in these events.
Thank you, Diana BoddenHead Road Captain, Atlanta Chapter
Stay on Top of Your Game
I once read an article about Jack Nicholas, one of the greatest golfers of our time. A reporter asked him. “What was the secret to his success?” Mr. Nicholas replied, “I review the basics of my swing at the beginning of each year.”
That is good advice even for a motorcycle rider, and how could it benefit him?
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation provides quick tips: “General Guidelines for Riding a Motorcycle Safely.”
• Be visible: Use reflective strips or decals on your clothing or motorcycle Motorists often have trouble seeing motorcycles Flash your brake lights when you are slowing down & before stopping If a motorist doesn’t see you, don’t be afraid to use your horn
• Dress for safety Wear a quality helmet and proper eye protection Wear brightly-colored clothing Wear proper leather riding gear
• Apply effective mental strategies: Constantly search the road for changing conditions. Use MSF’s Search, Evaluate, Execute strategy (SEE) to increase time and space safety margins Signal your next move in advance Avoid weaving between lines Don’t ride when you are tired
• Know your bide and how to use it
Good advice: Don’t be one of the riders that start out unprepared and ends up on a dead-end road.

A Great Start for the 2008 Atlanta Chapter HOG Movie Season!
Although the weatherman said the rain should have cleared out, that didn't stop Marlon Brando from zipping across the screen with the townspeople chasing behind him. Despite the rainy weather, the first chapter movie night in 2008 brought out a great crowd of about fifteen people. While everyone got settled in their lawn chairs and blankets after chowing down on some delicious chili dogs, cupcakes, chips, brownies, popcorn and other great stuff, we watched Brando and Lee Marvin tear up the screen in The Wild One.
I would like to thank everyone who came out to watch the film, and those who helped setup and run the event, including; Chirs Robey, Gary Easterwood, Mac Hall, Tandy Barrett, and Fiona Grandowski. I would also like to give a special thanks to Lori Robey for the yummy cupcakes, Diana Bodden, for the sweet brownies, and to Beth Barrett who brought the perfect topping for a hot dog… chili! I would also like to recognize the master of the hot dog cart, Diana's nephew, Christopher. Not only did he sling the dogs with the pizzazz of a veteran downtown street corner vendor, he always had a hot dog waiting for us hungry moviegoers.
Overall, the event was a lot of fun, and I look forward to the next movie night in June, hope to see you there!
Save the date for the Dual Chapter Summer Picnic!

Don't forget you have to be a member of National H.O.G. to be a member of any local H.O.G. chapter. You can do that by calling 1-800-CLUBHOG (1-800-258-2464) or by signing up directly/renewing on their website at: www.hog.com.
The last winter meeting at the Olive Tree was great. We had 45 members attending and lots to cover. Our Activity Officer, Erik Grandowski was on spring break, so all the officers were in attendance. We had one new member, Joey Porter and two excited guests, X-man and his daughter Lysa. The Door prizes went to Michelle Conway and John Morgan, with a special prize going to Bobby Conway from the dealership for all the money, he has spent this year fixing up Michelle's bike. Charles Slomka won the 50/50 and I got the attendance jackpot (a gift card for Harley-Davidson of Atlanta). The food was great and everyone had a great time socializing after the meeting. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting.
We are still looking for volunteers for various activities. If you are interested, please let us know.

Willie G. Rides
The Willie G. Rides continued in 1989. This year we gave away two Willie G. Leather Jackets to two different Atlanta Chapter members at the Third Anniversary Party. Lisa Garmon and Ivan Todd are now the owners of a Willie G. Leather jack for just participating in Atlanta Chapter rides.
Third Annual New Year’s Day Breakfast and Good Luck Ride
We had a great turn out on a cold and rainy day. A few stout-hearted members road their motorcycles including Jim and Rene' Durham. This was a "Willie G. Ride.” Just for showing up you received one ticket, and if you rode you received two. Everyone wanted those coveted "Willie G." tickets.
1988 National H.O.G. Rally
The National H.O.G. Rally was held in Asheville, NC. We had rooms at the Days Inn.

(We had seven at the social this past Dayton.) I guess the "Willie G." was the attraction, or we were just more interested in socializing back then. I (B.K.) had my motorcycle stolen while at the dinner and had to hitch a ride back home. Ralph Anglin also had his motorcycle stolen earlier in week while have dinner. It was a bad year to eat out in Daytona. Someone told Wake Conklin, "You Atlanta Chapter Members are everywhere. No matter which way I look, I see Atlanta Chapter." We all wore Chapter Vest back then and could be identified. Christmas Party The Atlanta Chapter Christmas Party was held at the Islander Restaurant in Forest Park. There was a free buffet for chapter members. Thanks to Dale Moorefield for suggesting the Islander and arranging the buffet. A great time was had by all attendees. 1988 Ride Calendar The Atlanta Chapter participated in and/or had more than 75 rides in 1988. We were a busy bunch of motorcycle folks with just a Head Road Captain and a Road Captain. Anyone that wanted to setup and led a ride was welcomed to do so.
