MEMBER BENEFIT CHANGE
NEW RIDER REWARDS PROGRAM
Ronnie Godwin, General Manager Harley-Davidson of Atlanta
I want to take a moment to let you all know that in 2006 Harley-Davidson of Atlanta is launching a Rider Rewards Program. This program is designed to reward those customers who are most deserving. Consequently, customers who do more business with Harley-Davidson of Atlanta will reap more benefits as a result of the program.
In the past, many have only joined the Atlanta Chapter merely to receive a discount anytime and every time they made a purchase at the dealership. To many, the Chapter is known only as a discount club. This has removed the true purpose and meaning behind what H.O.G. chapters are really about. Harley-Davidson Motor Company and the National Chapter both discourage
dealers from having an across the board discount for H.O.G. members for this very reason. In keeping with the factory and National Chapters recommendations, we are amending our store’s discount and rewards programs.
The Rider Rewards Program will be available to our entire customer base, including our Chapter members. The Rider Rewards Program will be included FREE OF CHARGE as a part of active chapter membership. For non-chapter members there will be a cost to be a member of the Rider Rewards Program. Non-chapter members will have to acquire their Loyalty card for $9.95 annually or $39.95 for a lifetime membership.
The program is a way for Harley-Davidson of Atlanta customers to earn credit toward future purchases. Each time you make a purchase in MotorClothes, Parts and Accessories and the Service department you will earn a percentage back of every dollar spent. Moreover, points will be earned on qualifying merchandise only. Chapter members will also receive points for their participation in Chapter or dealership sanctioned events and functions (e.g., chapter meetings,
chapter rides, socials, volunteer time, etc.).
The Rider Rewards Program will begin in January 2006. We are looking forward to implementing this new program. We are confident you will find this Riders Reward program to be rewarding to you.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
This month’s column is of a personal nature. It is a story of a friend of mine. His name is Steve. Everyone who rides a Harley probably has a friend like Steve. You see if I had to narrow it down to the one person who had the most influence on my getting into riding motorcycles (more specifically riding a Harley) it would be Steve. He was always having fun riding or talking about it. Steve and I have known each other and worked together for close to twenty years.
As police officers we worked together as undercover narcotics agents on a task force with the FBI and DEA. We were divers on the police department Underwater Search and Recovery Team. We were tasked with diving in black water to recover bodies as well as evidence. We have put our lives in each other’s hands many times over the years. We each could recall specific
situations in which we prevented the other’s demise.
For years I knew Steve rode a Harley. He belonged to a motorcycle club. Each year Steve and many others would take off on a trip to Florida. It seemed the other riders were always looking for Steve to organize the trips. He has always been a leadership type of guy. For personal reasons I was convinced that I would never ride my own bike. On many occasions I would follow along with my truck just in case there were breakdowns. I would listen to Steve talk about where he
had ridden. I began to think, “Man what a life.” But I thought those feelings would pass. Well after three years I still had the itch to learn to ride. Steve never tried to be a hard sell. He didn’t directly try to talk me into getting a bike. He just pointed out what a life I was missing. He just
enjoyed riding and talking about riding. That attitude became contagious. He was always going somewhere and doing something I was not. I now own a Harley and ride a lot. It may have happened anyway but I credit Steve with getting me interested.
Two weeks ago Steve went in for an eye checkup as he was experiencing some vision problems. Long story short it was discovered that Steve had a pituitary gland brain tumor. There had been no warning signs. When the neurosurgeon saw the tumor he commented that it was the largest he had ever seen. Steve has had surgery. They were able to get most of the tumor. The doctor was unable to remove the entire tumor because it had wrapped itself around some vital areas. Steve is doing well
Steve needs some follow up work. This is something that will have to be monitored the rest of his life.
Everyone probably has someone like Steve who can be thanked for getting you into riding. So take the time to show your appreciation. Also remember that life is precious. It can change in the blink of an eye. Live your life to the fullest. Ride as much as you can. Spend time with family and friends (both blood and riding). Fill your life with memories.
Soon Steve and I will be doing it again. Good luck my friend. Get well soon.
Ride for Fun.

H.O.G. Mileage Program
Do you like to ride? Do you ride a lot? Would you like to show everyone how much you ride? I’ve talked about www.hog.com a few times in my articles and all the things offered there. Here is one that will help you in marking milestones for you and your motorcycle. The H.O.G. Mileage Program is beautiful in its simplicity: If you ride H.O.G. will reward you. They'll even give you a pin and patch just for signing up (registration is free). After that, additional pins, patches, and motorcycle medallions will be awarded at various mileage intervals. Your first
award comes at just 10,000 miles. Of course, there are a few rules you'll have to follow:
Only active H.O.G. members (full, full life, associate, and associate life) may participate. If you have more than one Harley you have to enroll each one. Only mileage logged after you enroll will count toward your award. You may participate as a rider, a passenger, or both. Just be sure to fill out a form for each. The passenger is documented on the same form as the sponsoring rider.
Those listed as “passengers” who also are “riders” must submit a separate form if they would like to accumulate miles as “rider”. However, mileage accumulated on one vehicle cannot be shared with another rider (i.e., the same mileage cannot be reported twice for two rider awards). H.O.G. Fly & Ride miles may be credited to your file by submitting a copy of the contract, which indicates mileage accumulated. Each Mileage Program form must document odometer readings and appropriate vehicle identification numbers for all vehicles used to accumulate required mileage for that particular mileage level. (This one's important) Your must have your enrollment form and award submissions officially endorsed by an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer. However, it is still your responsibility to submit them once they are endorsed. So what are you waiting for? Get out and start riding – but not before you get yourself enrolled in the H.O.G. Mileage Program! https://members.hog.com/website/take_past/forms/mileage.pdf

SAFETY OFFICER'S REPORT
SAFETY OFFICER’S REPORT
Hello Everyone
Guess you have been wondering where I've been. Well I contacted a bacterium on the bottom of my foot in late February. I was put in the hospital for almost a month. My foot had swollen to the size of a football. After three operations they were able to get most of the infection out. Now I'm having a 'home care' nurse come over almost every day to dress the wounds/incisions the surgeons made. I am currently going to the Wound Center' every week for them to examine the progress. The prognosis now is I may lose my second toe. Also they found blocked arteries in my leg. They plan to perform an angioplasty surgery next week to correct that. Not sure when I'll be back to my old self. At least I'm able to work from home. Hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful days and doing some great and safe rides.
See you all soon.
Until we ride again.

WEB MASTER'S REPORT
Atlanta Chapter Web Page
Due to a review of our web page by national H.O.G., I have had to do some changing. I will no longer list chapter members’ birthdays on the web page. They will still be in the HOGWASH and on the web page in the HOGWASH Print as Mailed. I had to move the HOGWASH Archives and the HOGWASH Print as Mailed to a password-protected page. You will need a UserId and password to access these pages. I will print the UserId and password in the HOGWASH each month so you will have access to these pages. This is security protection for our members who names and email addresses appear in past and/or current publications. This does not apply to chapter officer/road captains per national H.O.G. This information is for Atlanta Chapter members ONLY and is not to be disseminated to NON-Chapter Members. These changes only apply to the web site. The HOGWASH publication will remain the same.
Keep Email Address Updated!
If you have updated your e-mail address, PLEASE send me your new address. I get several undeliverable e-mail messages each time I send a message updating members on up coming or changed events. Please, keep you e-mail address up to date and stay informed! E-mail me at hog@mindspring.com. Thanks!!
Atlanta Chapter on Yahoo!
Atlanta Chapter has a "Club Address" on Yahoo at the following URL:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/atlantachapterhog
Please, check it out! You will be able to post messages and upload pictures. You will have to register to sign on. When you register, please give you "Real Name". That way other members will recognize your name and be able to e-mail you as a member of the Atlanta Chapter and not someone in Kalamazoo. If you have problems, e-mail me and I will try and help.
Chris Robey will keep the calendar up to date, so there is no need to miss an important event date. If you have concerns about the status of a ride, PLEASE, call the Road Captain listed for the ride.
This does not replace our HOGWASH Web Page,
www.atlantahog.com or the HOGWASH Newsletter, just another e-service of the Atlanta Chapter.

ROAD TRIP
Thunder Beach Spring Rally!
I've planned a new route that will let us see a little new scenery. The ride will be 360 miles and about nine hours in the saddle. Plan on meeting at HDA at 7:30 a.m. We will be leaving promptly at 8:00 a.m.! From the dealership we will travel across west Georgia, through Carrollton and into Alabama, turning south at Wedowee. We will stop for lunch in Opelika. Then we’ll continue south into Florida. Finally we’ll arrive at Panama City Beach around 6:00 p.m. If you haven't made your hotel reservations, you need to get them now! If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 770-354-9229 or email me at dtrefzger@amsisupply.com.
I have inadvertently deleted all of my email records. Those of you who have already been in contact with me please email me again so I can keep you up to date with any changes!
Hope to see y'all soon!

You Can Make a Difference!
Please join me on Sunday, June 11 for the “2006 Rolling on for MDA” ride. I will be leading a ride from the dealership to the Marietta Square where the official ride will leave and end. Last year our chapter came in 2nd place for most money raised. Let’s see if we can do it again (or
better) this year. There will be food, a live band, a bike show, vendor booths, raffle prizes, awards and much more.
The entry fee is $40 per person – The supporter will receive (1) entry for the ride, (1) ride pin, (1) goodie bag, lunch and (5) raffle tickets for prizes to be given away after the ride.
THIS IS A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION!
There are several other levels of support. If you have questions please feel free to call or email me. terrin2hd@bellsouth.net / 770-947-6839
WHAT YOUR DOLLARS WILL BUY:
$65 One minute of research
$600 Sends one child to MDA summer camp
$2000 Assists one person with the purchase of a wheelchair, leg braces or speech communication device.
I hope you will join me in supporting this very worthwhile cause.
