Welcome to the Atlanta Chapter's Website. Harley-Davidson of Atlanta established the Atlanta Chapter on September 16, 1985. We are the oldest H.O.G. Chapter in Georgia. All of the officers hope you will take a look around and enjoy your stop here. Be sure to check out the Calendar. We try to keep a good variety of rides and events to fit into everyone's schedules. If you are a local or just passing through town and have any questions feel free to contact any of the Officers. If you are interested in joining the chapter, we have membership applications available here on the site. We are here to "Ride and Have Fun" and hope you will come out and join us soon. Mark’s Corner
In 2007, after being away from riding for a number of years, I rented a Softail Deluxe for a weekend and rode up through the North Georgia mountains riding the back roads. I rented the bike to help me decide if I really wanted to commit the money and time to what was once a great passion. After the first couple, of miles, the question was not did I really want to buy and Harley-Davidson but which model did I want. That weekend was a great experience that I will not forget. Just me, the sound of that V-Twin and the countryside with the multitude of early springtime smells floating in the air.
Now it’s springtime again, the grass is green, the flowers and trees are blooming and the back roads are calling – it’s riding season. To kick off spring we have already had some great rides with fantastic weather. The chapter calendar is quickly filling up with rides and activities. If you check out the year-at-a-glance calendar on the chapter website, www.atlantahog.com, you will find that the chapter is going to be busy in the months ahead. Your road captains have been busy planning rides that are sure to appeal to all of our members. If you haven’t been riding much during the winter months be sure to inspect your bike, i.e. tire tread, tire pressure, brakes, lights and signals, etc. and come join us from some prime time riding. I hope to see you at the next ride.

Attendance Jackpot
Congratulations to Wendell King whose name was drawn for the April Attendance Jackpot. Wendell was not at the meeting to claim the $60. We will add $10 to the Jackpot for the next chapter meeting, $70. Remember you must be at the meeting and a member in “Good Standing,” a current member of national H.O.G. and Atlanta Chapter. If the member whose name is drawn is not at the meeting, we will add $10 and try again next meeting. Please have your National H.O.G. card with you at the meeting. Hope to see everyone there.
Please ride safe and responsible,

Hone Your Riding Skills (Safe Rider Skills)
The HOG Safe Rider Skills Program offers up to $50 reimbursement (in the form of a HOG coupon) to HOG members who successfully complete an accredited Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) rider training course, including the Harley-Davidson Rider’s Edge® courses. We have such courses offered by Harley-Davidson of Atlanta; in fact, several Chapter Officers will be taking the Advanced Riders Skills Course on 9 June 2012. The cost of the course is $100 for HOG Members; so with the $50 reimbursement, it will only cost you $50. In addition to the $50 HOG coupon, you will receive a pin and patch featuring the “Safe Riders Skills” logo.
To claim your reimbursement you will need to complete the form located at: https://members.hog.com/website/protect_your_ride/forms/2012_Safe_Rider_Skills_Form.pdf. If you need assistance with the form, please do not hesitate to contact me. To qualify for the $50 coupon you must:
1. Be a current HOG member on the date the course began.
2. Send the proper documentation within three months of the course completion date.
3. Limited to reimbursement for one course annually with a maximum of $50.
After a minimum of 12 Atlanta chapter members, complete an accredited 2012 rider training course, and submit the proper paperwork, a Safe Riders Skills plaque will be sent to our sponsoring dealer, Harley-Davidson of Atlanta.
For more information about the Safe Rider Skills Program and other benefits/programs offered by HOG, review your 2012 Adventure Guide.

Distillery Run
Come join Amanda and myself for a ride to the oldest whiskey distillery in the United States. Yes, I am talking about the world famous Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. We will arrive at the distillery by way of a scenic ride through Georgia and then into Tennessee. Part of the ride will be back roads and then some interstate, but the overall pace of this ride will be very leisure. We plan to arrive in Lynchburg around lunch time, spend some time in the historic square where there is a Harley-Davidson merchandise shop and tour the distillery.
After we spend the afternoon in Lynchburg, we will saddle up and head southwest to Huntsville, Alabama and stay the night. We have negotiated a rate for the group at the Best Western Plus in Huntsville at $75 night, plus tax for either, a king bed or two beds. When you call for reservations, let them know you are part of the Atlanta HOG group, and they will give you the group rate. This hotel is located near several restaurants, so once we arrive we can walk to eat dinner and relax for the evening.
On Sunday morning, we will enjoy the complimentary hot breakfast at the hotel and then head out for a leisure ride through Alabama. We plan to stop in Gadsden for lunch at Top of the River. This restaurant is famous for their fried catfish, jalapeno cornbread and coleslaw. They have a very extensive menu that will appeal to everyone.

Pub Ride During Thunder Beach
For anyone who is attending the Thunder Beach Spring rally, I will be leading a ride to McGuire’s Pub in Destin on Friday, May 4. This will be a 2-pig ride for lunch and a scenic ride back through north Florida. If you like Irish Pubs, then McGuire’s will be a treat. Come indulge yourself with the Corned Beef & Cabbage, their wonderful Ruben sandwich, or one of their large burgers. You will not be disappointed. We will meet at 10:30am in the Target parking lot at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, Florida and leave at 11am. If you have any questions about the ride or meeting location, feel free to contact me on my cell. Hope to see everyone in Florida!

March Birthday Ride Recap
On March 25, we gathered for the March birthday ride to Red Robin. To my surprise we had an awesome turnout. We had 24 bikes and a total of 30 people. It is great to see that large of a turn out for a lunch ride. We rode through the Cobb, Fulton, and Coweta country side and arrived at Red Robin without incident. We enjoyed some great burgers and fellowship with our HOG family. Afterwards, we had a small group continue on to the Great South for the chapter picnic meeting while others headed on in other directions. Thanks to everyone who came out to participate in this ride. I hope to have high participation in all of our rides.
Don’t forget that, in April, the Fuller’s are leading us to Zorba’s in Cedartown for the April birthday ride. Then in May we will do a weeknight birthday ride to Taco Mac in Douglasville. I hope you all come out to join us.

Daytona’s Bike Week “Loop Ride” Recap
Bike Week in Daytona this year was a great event, the weather was perfect and as always there were many more things to do than there was time to do them! Atlanta Chapter’s H.O.G. “Loop Ride” on Thursday was no exception to our motto, “ride and have fun”! The 20 mile ride through Tomoka State Park was as scenic as anyone could ask for. The four of us ended up at the High Tides Snack Shack in Flagler Beach for an awesome lunch before returning to the festivities in Daytona!
See ya there next year,
Chuck Fuller, Road Captain
